I love babies! Capturing newborn moments is one of my favorite things to do. My style of photography is Fine Art Lifestyle Photography. For your newborn session, I will come in to your home and turn those first moments with your newborn in to art that you can enjoy for years to come.
Here are a few tips for your newborn session.
Day of Session
I prefer to start newborn session at 10:00 am. Infants tend to be less fussy in the morning and the light in your home is usually best at that time as well. When I arrive, I will want to take a look around your home to find the areas with the best light. I often use the master bed and nursery for the entire session. Please don’t feel like you have to clean the house from top to bottom before I arrive. I remember what it was like with a newborn. We can tidy up a small area if we need to.
Your baby is perfect just the way he or she is! I don’t do formal posing and won’t pose your baby in unnatural poses. I don’t care if your baby is awake or asleep. The newborn is leading the session. I prefer a plain white onesie without writing that is form-fitting. I will also get some images with the baby nude or just in a diaper. I will bring some swaddle blankets in different colors. I recommend feeding the baby 15 minutes before the session starts. I want to capture sweet, beautiful moments that are stress-free for you as a new parent.
This is such a time of big change for siblings and they can be excited, anxious, jealous and a whole lot of other emotions. I try to start the session with shots that include siblings. I have no expectations for siblings so please don’t stress over how they may act or what they are doing during the session.
Since we are doing this session during the first couple of weeks after the arrival of your newborn. I get it. You’re giddy with joy and exhausted from lack of sleep. My goal is not to make your life and home look perfect. My goal is to capture this beautiful, crazy time in your life. I want this session to be relaxed and stress-free for you.
What to wear
I recommend neutral colors without big, busy patterns. You will be comfortable if you are wearing something comfortable. Please ask if you have any questions about what to wear.
