What to expect during your Lifestyle Family Session | Bay Area Lifestyle Photographer
Apr 3, 2020
You’ve done the hard part. You’ve scheduled your Lifestyle family session. You may be wondering what to expect on session day.
Here are a few tips for your Lifestyle Family Photography Session.
The big day is here
Family sessions can be done outdoors or in your home. I happen to love in-home sessions, as our homes are where the magic is. It’s where we are most relaxed and comfortable.
In-home sessions typically take place mid-morning or mid-afternoon to take advantage of the best light in your home. Outdoor sessions typically take place about an hour before sunset or first thing in the morning. This is when the light is best and tends to be less harsh.
On the day of the session, I’ll either meet you at your home or on location, When I arrive, I usually spend the first few minutes getting to know the kids and letting them get to know me. If you have any lingering questions about what to expect, I will address those before we start.
My goal for your session is to capture moments that show the emotion and connection of your family. Expect to have fun, to laugh and play, and to catpure moments that you will treasure in years to come. While Lifestyle photography is not posed like traditional photography, I will give you direction and prompts throughout the session.
I prefer to schedule only one session a day. This allows me to focus only on your family. There are no fixed time limits on your session. I like to say that sessions take as long as they take. Some families are comfortable being in front of the camera and are relaxed right from the start. Others take a little longer to get comfortable.
Many of the lifestyle family sessions that I do are outdoors and since we live in the Bay Area, we are blessed with amazing weather the majority of the year. But wouldn’t you know it, you’ve scheduled your family session, and the forecast calls for rain. Now what do...
