When you think of having family photos, what comes

When you think of having family photos, what comes to mind? I know when my kids were little, I immediatly thought about what everyone was going to wear. And then I stressed about whether the kids were going to cooperate (whatever that means, right?), and finding the perfect location. Does this sound familiar?⠀
⠀
But, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. When I look back at those images, I don't really feel anything. Don't get me wrong, it's great to look back and see how little they were and how much they have changed, but for me, those images don't really invoke many feelings.⠀
⠀
The images that give me the "feels" are the ones that captured moments that I didn't even know I was going to want to remember. Comforting my little ones after a boo boo, snuggling on the couch, their little sleepy faces......I definitely feel something when I look back at those images.⠀

I had such an amazing time at TFN in Palm Springs. I met so many incredible human beings who also happen to be fellow photographers. While I love photographing families, street photography has always held a special place in my heart, and meeting @cornwhizzle was amazing.⠀

I absolutely love to read. So far, for 2023, I'm on book number 12!⠀

I just finished reading "All That is Mine I Carry With Me" by @williamlanday. Fun fact.....he's actually a childhood friend of my husband's. If you haven't read any of his books, I highly recommend them. One of his earlier books, "Defending Jacob" was even made into a movie!⠀

But I know that not everyone loves reading as much as I do, so I'm trying to decide if my new course about systems and workflows should be an eBook, modules, videos, or some combination.⠀

Last week I attended The Family Narrative retreat

Last week I attended The Family Narrative retreat in Palm Springs. It was so exciting to meet other amazing photographers, and learn something new, but I'll share a secret with you. I'm somewhat of an introvert and have pretty bad social anxiety in new settings.⠀

So....it was really hard for me to actually leave my room and participate. But I did it, and I'm so glad I did!⠀

Starting out, I filled my office with newborn prop

Starting out, I filled my office with newborn props, outfits, and wraps. Before each session, I obsessed over what to take and how I would pose the little one. My bag was full of not only my equipment but all the things I thought I needed for newborn photography....rugs, and baskets, and bowls, and headbands; well, you get what I'm saying.⠀
⠀
But I soon learned that posed newborn photography wasn't for me. I just didn't enjoy it. So now, when I head off for a session, all I take are my cameras and maybe an extra battery or two. That's it!⠀

⠀
And instead of putting your little one in a bowl, I put them in your arms......right where they belong!⠀
