My word for how I want to live this year is, THRIVE! ⠀

The dictionary defines the word thrive as, to prosper or flourish, to grow or develop well. For me, it means being the very best version of myself that I can be.⠀
⠀
Here are a few of the things that I'm working on so that I can thrive.⠀
⠀
•Being authentic. I think to be authentic you first have to know who you really are. So I'm working hard to figure out what is important to me, what legacy do I want to leave for my children, how do I define success, and what I'm passionate about.⠀
•Practicing gratitude. Every night I write down something that I'm grateful for. It doesn't have to be something big. Today I'm grateful that the sun is shining.⠀
•Giving more than I receive. When we think of giving, we often only think of tangible things. But we have so many non-tangible things to give. We can give our undivided attention when we put down our phones and listen to our partners or our children.⠀
•Practicing self-care. We moms often get so used to caring for everyone around us that we forget to care for ourselves. I'm working on eating well, hydrating more, and paying attention to my needs. ⠀

Maya Angelou said, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."⠀

What do you know about your family's story? And I don't mean just your parents and siblings. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦⠀

What do you really know about your family history? Who were your grandparents and great-grandparents? You probably know where they lived, but do you know how they lived? What were they like and what did they like to do?⠀

Did you know that many adults and children today know very little about the family that came before them.⠀
⠀
If you don't document your family story, no one will remember it when you're not around to tell it. 📘⠀

One of the best ways to document your story is through photographs. Show the next generation who you were and what you loved doing. Don't let your story go untold!⠀

Now, tell me one fun thing that you want your grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know about you. I want them to know that I love music. As a little girl I would sing at the top of my voice with my headphones 🎧 on, and I still sing today. I sing in the shower and in the car, and I don't alwasy sing on key. Music calms my soul. 🎶⠀
